Our dear colleague and friend Torbjörn Bergman passed away at the age of 69 in the summer of 2026. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind many friends and colleagues around the world.
Torbjörn had a long and productive academic career, authoring or co-authoring an extensive body of research on the relationship between constitutional rules and the processes of government formation and governance. During his career, he founded the database that preceded REPDEM, published several important scholarly books, and wrote numerous influential articles in the field of coalition research.
We have lost a remarkable and generous person whose warmth and charm touched all who knew him. Torbjörn will be deeply missed, both as a friend and as a colleague.
